Project details
Valga is a city located in Estonia, on the border with Latvia, which together with Valka forms a single urban centre. The District 8 project was the first step for the redevelopment of Valga and has become the natural meeting place of the two cities.
The new urban space, located in District 8, consists of a large square and large green spaces. This project has been fundamental for the recovery of existing private buildings and has contributed to the development of new economic activities, representing an important initiative for urban renewal. In addition, the project created an ideal and concrete link between the churches of the two cities, symbolizing unity between the communities.
The plan for the new District 8 retained the typological and decorative characters of the buildings, preserving the consolidated urban image of the area. Thanks to this approach, the neighbourhood has become a reference point for the community and will represent an important testimony of the cultural and architectural heritage of the two cities.
