Project details

The project for the Aulla riverfront was conceived in order to guarantee the safety of the city from floods and provides for a series of interventions to improve the landscape aspect of the area where the Magra river flows near the town. The overall masterplan not only addresses the hydraulic and protection aspects of the urban area, but also represents an opportunity for Aulla to improve the urban quality of the city. The design principles underlying the intervention aim to underline the relationship between the intervention area and its surrounding environment, considering the entire urban context as a system in which the interventions act as elements of mediation and connection between the river and urban reality, and to outline a new meeting point between the city and the river. The project involves the creation of a long promenade on the river, a dynamic and modern space that will generate new public attractions. This new promenade will allow you to reconnect the city with the river through an elevated path that connects to ramps, small squares, terraces and new gardens, up to the level of the river and the city itself. This intervention is part of a larger project to redevelop the urban spaces of Aulla, which also includes the construction of a new school center and the construction of a greenway that will recover the disused railway grounds.
