Project details
The Passeggio di Lodi (realised between 1934 and 1949), now known as “Giardini Barbarossa”, is a large green space structured as a formal garden, characterized by the presence of tall trees and a strategic position that makes it the gateway to the city, giving it an important scenographic role. However, the increase of the surrounding urban fabric has made its original function obsolete. Therefore, it became necessary to rethink the garden while keeping intact its historical memory and its distinctive features. The water, present in the form of fountains and serpentine-like stone pavement, is a dominant element that crosses the garden and constitutes its historical memory. The reconstruction of the history of the place has made it possible to identify the guidelines for the new garden, which today bears the name of Barbarossa Gardens.
