Project details

The project, following the guidelines of the Call for Urban and Per-urban Forestation Ministerial Decree of 9 October 2020, provided for the construction of an integrated urban forestation plant on almost 4 hectares within the municipal territory with the planting of 3642 tree and shrub plants. The species, the number and location of the trees planted were evaluated considering the pedoclimatic characteristics of the area and the composition of the tree species already existing in the areas affected by the intervention and in the surrounding areas. In addition, the characteristics and potential of the plants to be planted in terms of CO2 storage and removal of air pollutants and the allergenicity of the pollen emitted by the different species were evaluated. Other characteristics taken into consideration for planting were the size of the species at maturity, the size of the foliage, the potential effect of the species on the microclimate and the distribution area of the species, preferring native species. Of the 3642 plants identified, 2494 are arboreal and 1148 shrubs. The shrubby plants are all planted as forest posts, while of the tree plants, 198 have a diameter of 8-10 cm and the remaining 2296 are planted as forest posts.
